PeerMetals supports WebMCP, a new open web standard developed with the Chrome and Edge teams that lets the AI assistant built into your browser use our marketplace directly. Instead of your assistant guessing its way around the screen, PeerMetals hands it a set of well-defined tools — so it can search, compare, and prepare things for you quickly and reliably, while every real decision stays in your hands.

What your assistant can do

Once it's active, you can ask your browser's AI things like:

• Find items: "Find me 90% junk silver under $30" or "Show me what this seller has for sale."
• Spot the deals: "What's listed at or below spot right now?" — deal rankings are verified against real melt value, so a "below spot" answer is honest.
• Check the market: "Where's gold trading today?" — live spot prices for gold, silver, platinum, palladium, and copper, with 24-hour trends.
• Vet a seller: "Is this seller legit?" — real ratings, review counts, delivered-sales records, and how long they've been a member.
• Build your cart: "Add two of those to my cart" or "Any coupon codes for this seller?"
• Stay on top of things: "Has my order shipped?", "Am I still winning that auction?", "Anything on my wishlist drop in price?", "Any unread messages?"
• Find local sellers: "Any sellers with a store near Austin?"

What sellers can do

If you sell on PeerMetals, your assistant can also:

• Check which orders are waiting to ship and whether labels are ready.
• Draft new listings for your review — drafts are never published automatically, and a listing needs photos and your explicit approval before it goes live.
• Create coupon codes with your rules: percentage or fixed discounts, minimum order amounts, usage limits, and expiry dates.
• Update stock quantities on your own listings.

What your assistant can never do

We drew hard lines on purpose, and they are built into the tools themselves — not just policy:

• It can never spend your money. Checkout and payment always happen on the cart page, by you.
• It can never place a bid. It can watch auctions and tell you when you're outbid, but bidding is yours.
• It can never send messages. It can read your inbox and flag unread conversations, but replies come from you.
• It can never publish a listing. Drafts wait for your photos and your click.
• It follows the same rules you do: it cannot buy your own listings, see other users' private data, or act on a listing that isn't available.

How to use it

1. Use a recent version of Chrome (149 or newer) or Edge (150 or newer). Support rolls out gradually, so it may not be active for everyone yet — more browsers are on the way as the standard matures.
2. Browse peermetals.com as usual. If you're signed in, your assistant can also help with your own orders, bids, wishlist, and portfolio — it sees only what your account can see.
3. Open your browser's AI assistant and ask in plain English. No setup, no extensions, no API keys.

Which assistants work with this?

WebMCP is a shared standard, so support grows as assistants adopt it — with no changes needed on our side:

• Works today: Chrome's built-in AI assistant (Chrome 149 and newer), Copilot Mode in Edge (150 and newer), and Brave's Leo (experimental).
• Browser-extension assistants: assistants that run as extensions in your browser — such as Claude in Chrome — are part of the standard's design and gain access as they adopt it.
• Desktop AI apps: technically-minded users can already bridge our tools into MCP-compatible apps like Claude Desktop through a community WebMCP browser extension.
• ChatGPT and other agentic browsers: supported automatically as soon as they implement the WebMCP standard.

One thing never changes: assistants only get access inside your browser, on your session. An AI that isn't attached to your browser can't see or use these tools at all.

Privacy

The tools run inside your own browser session. Nothing new is shared with PeerMetals — your assistant simply uses the same access your account already has, and signed-out visitors get public information only. Notifications and messages are never marked as read unless you ask for that specifically, and reading them with your assistant doesn't notify anyone.
