Seller Penalties & Negative Balances

PeerMetals holds sellers to high standards to ensure a trustworthy marketplace. In some cases, penalties may be applied to seller accounts, which can result in negative balances.

What Causes Penalties

  • Chargebacks: When a buyer disputes a charge with their bank and it's ruled in their favor.

  • Refunds issued after payout: If a refund is processed after you've already been paid.

  • Policy violations: Selling prohibited items, shipping delays, or misrepresentation.

  • Failed shipping: Orders that aren't shipped within the required timeframe.

How Negative Balances Work

  • When a penalty exceeds your available balance, your account goes into a negative balance.

  • Future earnings will be applied to recover the negative balance before new payouts are sent.

  • Your account may have limited functionality until the balance is resolved.

How to Resolve

  • Continue selling—future earnings will automatically offset the negative balance.

  • Contact support if you believe a penalty was applied in error.

  • Review your Penalties page for a full breakdown of charges.
