NGC is the primary slabber for the GSA Carson City run. However, many collectors want the PCGS grading label.
PCGS offers two styles, original GSA holder INSIDE the PCGS holder, or more common sized PCGS holder with GSA hoard labeled on insert. This coin is in the larger PCGS holder. I think it can be submitted back to PCGS for slabbing in the standard size PCGS holder or submitted to NGC for their grade ribbon wrap.
I believe this GSA holder inside of the PCGS holder was wrapped several years ago and shows very light spider webbing on the outer holder in some light conditions, which causes a very slight fogging of the clarity of the coin itself. The camera accentuates the minute baggies on liberty's cheek and the fields in front of her face; but very minute and much less discernible in hand. A very solid 64......with maybe a Plus(+).
MS 65 grade jumps to the 2000s. Low mintage of 228,000 , therefore the premiums for the 1885s.
