Key Details:
The Eagle's Plumage: You can trace the layered texture of individual downy chest feathers and the parallel ridges along the flight feathers of the wings.
On pieces that circulated heavily, these areas are the first to smooth out into featureless surfaces.
The Serpent's Form: The coiling body of the rattlesnake gripped in the eagle's beak is completely three-dimensional. The tiny segments of its underbelly and tail details have distinct depth.
The Cactus & Garland: The details on the prickly pear fruit pads below the eagle remain sharp.
The hand-engraved appearance of the tiny ribbon binding the oak and laurel branches at the very bottom rim is completely sharp and crisp
This historic piece features the classic radiant Liberty Phrygian cap with sunburst on the reverse and the sharp Mexican National Emblem eagle on the obverse.
Estimated Condition:
Choice About Uncirculated (AU) to Brilliant Uncirculated (BU)
Luster:
Retains strong, original frosty mint luster with an excellent "cartwheel" reflective flash in the fields.
Details:
Extremely sharp strike. The delicate individual feather layers on the eagle's breast and wings are completely distinct and crisp.
The microscopic lettering inside the Liberty cap reading "LIBERTAD" is perfectly readable.
Eye Appeal: Superb original surfaces. Free from any heavy gouges, deep scratches, or distracting rim dings.
