Silver 1853-O Seated Liberty 50¢ – Arrows & Rays

1853-O Seated Liberty Half Dollar – Arrows & Rays – 90% Silver – Circulated G/VG

Coin Description:

A historic, single-year type coin: an 1853-O Seated Liberty Half Dollar featuring the highly desirable Arrows at the date and Rays on the reverse.

•This coin was minted at the New Orleans Mint (confirmed by the distinct "O" mint mark on the reverse) during a pivotal year in American numismatics. In 1853, the U.S. Mint slightly reduced the silver content of its fractional coins to prevent hoarding.

To clearly signify this weight change to the public, they added arrows to the obverse date and a beautiful array of rays behind the reverse eagle. This specific design combination was struck for 1853 only, making it a must-have for type collectors.

•This coin is in honest, heavily circulated condition with attractive, dark-rimmed historic toning and tarnish that highlights its 170+ year age. It remains completely raw and uncleaned, retaining its natural original surfaces.
