Description

1835 Capped Bust Silver Dime 10C - Fine Condition - Nice Original Toning

Description:

An authentic, original 1835 Capped Bust Silver Dime (10C). This early American silver coin has an excellent look, featuring a desirable naturally aged patina with deep gray accents highlighting the recesses.

Below is a detailed breakdown of the coin’s attributes and physical features:

Obverse:

• Design: Liberty facing left, wearing a traditional cloth Phrygian cap inscribed with the word "LIBERTY." She is encircled by 13 six-pointed stars representing the original colonies.

• Condition Details: The motto "LIBERTY" on the cap is completely clear, intact, and easy to read. The hair scrolls, cap lines, and the profile face show typical even wear from honest circulation, but remain bold against the fields. The date "1835" at the base is sharp and clearly defined.

Reverse:

• Design: An American bald eagle perched on an olive branch and holding three arrows in its talons. A U.S. shield is placed over the eagle's chest, and a scroll above reads "E PLURIBUS UNUM." The rim text reads "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" with the "10 C." denomination at the bottom.

• Condition Details: The letters of the country name, the motto scroll, and the denomination are well-raised and perfectly legible. The vertical stripes on the eagle's shield are clearly visible.

•The feathers on the wings and breast show typical flatting from circulation wear.

Specification:

• Year: 1835

• Denomination: Ten Cents (Dime)

• Mint Location: Philadelphia (No mint mark)

• Designer: John Reich / William Kneass

• Composition: 89.24% Silver, 10.76% Copper

• Diameter: 18.5 mm

• Edge: Reeded

• Estimated Grade: Fine (F-12) raw and uncleaned.

• Condition Notes: Excellent overall eye appeal with completely original, uncleaned surfaces. Features a highly desirable, deep natural patina around the devices. No major distracting marks, bends, or damage.
