Description

Half an Ounce of Silver for the Year of the Goat

This is a 1/2 troy ounce silver coin, .9999 fine, from the Perth Mint, the 2027 Year of the Goat issue in its Lunar Series III. It is legal tender in Australia at 50 cents, and the goat reverse runs for this one year before the series moves to the monkey.

Three Goats Bring Bliss

The reverse, by Natasha Muhl, shows a mature goat, a younger goat and a kid grazing among rocks, with a plum blossom tree at the right and hills behind. The Perth Mint ties the scene to the phrase “Three Goats Bring Bliss,” an image of winter ending and spring beginning. The Chinese character for goat sits above GOAT 2027, with the P mintmark at the left. The obverse is Dan Thorne’s portrait of King Charles III, ringed by CHARLES III, AUSTRALIA, 1/2 oz 9999 Ag and 50 CENTS.

Coin Highlights:

  • Contains 1/2 oz of .9999 fine silver.

  • Comes in a protective plastic capsule.

  • Obverse: The Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, the weight and fineness, and the monetary denomination.

  • Reverse: Portrays a mature goat, a young goat, and a baby goat grazing peacefully. The image embodies the auspicious phrase "Three Goats Bring Bliss," symbolizing the end of winter and the arrival of spring, renewal and prosperous new beginnings. A plum blossom tree represents purity, resilience and hope. Also included in the design is the Chinese character for "goat," the inscription "GOAT 2027" and The Perth Mint's "P" mint mark.

  • Sovereign coin backed by the Australian government.
