Coin Description
A highly detailed 1920 Mexican 50 Centavos Silver Coin.
Minted shortly after the turbulent Mexican Revolution, this historic piece features the classic "Cap and Rays" (Resplandor) theme.
It has survived in fantastic condition for a century-old circulated silver coin, estimated sitting firmly at a strong XF-45 (Choice Extremely Fine) grade.
In-Depth Condition Summary:
Obverse (Cap & Rays Side): The front face of the coin exhibits sharp, crisp features. Crucially, the intricate dot-matrix textured pattern inside the bold digits of the "50" remains completely intact and legible.
The oak and laurel wreath shows excellent separation among individual leaves, and the majestic rays bursting from the central Phrygian liberty cap hold deep, well-defined borders.
There is only minor, honest flattening visible on the high points of the letters in "LIBERTAD" from its brief time in circulation.
Reverse (Mexican National Arms Side):The back face features a beautifully preserved Mexican National Eagle perched on a cactus devouring a serpent.
The individual feathers across the eagle's breast and upper wings show exceptional, layered detail rather than being worn smooth.
The surrounding inscription "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS" and the "0.720" silver fineness purity stamp are remarkably sharp with crisp, squared edges.
Surface & Eye Appeal:
The coin possesses immense original eye appeal, boasting completely uncleaned, original surfaces with light, natural gray toning gathering around the lettering and devices. There are no harsh mechanical cleaning scratches, deep gouges, or distracting rim dings.
