1922 Peace dollar value: $67 in G-4 to $681 in MS-65 per USA Coin Book, about $50.61 in silver at $65.44/oz. Mintage 51,737,000, plus 1922-D and 1922-S.
Condition drives the price — full breakdown below.
51,737,000 struck — against the other key dates in the Peace Dollar series.
Bars are scaled to keep the smallest mintages visible; the exact figure is printed on every row. Mintage is coins struck, not coins surviving — melting and circulation wear thin those numbers further.
USA Coin Book values a 1922 normal relief Peace dollar at $67 in G-4, $72 in VG-8, $79 in F-12, $85 in VF-20, $87 in EF-40, $91 in AU-50, $98 in MS-60 and $681 in MS-65 (retrieved 2026-09-03). No MS-63 figure could be sourced for this update.
Like the Morgan, a Peace dollar is 26.73 grams of 90 percent silver, or 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver. At $65.44 per ounce on 3 September 2026 the melt value is about $50.61, which explains why worn coins cluster in the $67 to $91 range.
Philadelphia struck 51,737,000 in 1922, more than three times Denver's 15,063,000 (1922-D) and San Francisco's 17,475,000 (1922-S). That volume is why a 1922 with no mint mark is the most common Peace dollar you will find.
The 1922-D and 1922-S carry the same $67 G-4 value but pull ahead in mint state: USA Coin Book lists MS-60 at $115 for both, with MS-65 at $734 for the D and $1,487 for the S.
Do not confuse the normal relief coin with the 1922 High Relief. Only 35,401 High Relief pieces were struck, USA Coin Book values the proof at $313,130, and PCGS records an auction high of $458,250 for the Matte Finish High Relief proof.
Anthony de Francisci designed the Peace dollar, and 1922 was the first full year of the lower relief that the Mint adopted after the 1921 high relief coins proved hard to strike.
USA Coin Book puts a 1922 in average circulated condition at $71. On PeerMetals on 3 September 2026 a circulated 90 percent silver Peace dollar was listed at $57.27, about $7 over melt, which is closer to what dealers actually pay.
The jump from $98 in MS-60 to $681 in MS-65 is nearly sevenfold, so a raw coin described as gem is worth grading. PCGS or NGC certification is the only way to realize the MS-65 figure.
Errors do turn up: the PCGS Peace dollar listings on 3 September 2026 included a 1922 obverse mint error graded NGC AU58 offered at $255, several times the value of a normal AU coin.

Other dates and varieties in this series
What to check before you pay, specific to this date and its 51,737,000-coin mintage.
The same date runs from about $67 worn to $681 at the top of the scale — a 10× spread. Nearly all of that gap is condition, not the date on the coin, so work out where an example sits on the table above before deciding whether its asking price is fair.
A PCGS or NGC holder settles authenticity and grade in one go, which is most of what you're actually paying for at this level. The premium it adds is small next to the cost of being wrong about either.
Every Peace Dollar listed here is priced by an individual seller, so the same coin in the same grade can differ by a wide margin on any given day. Sort by price, check Metal Points and order history for a sense of the seller's record, and message them if the photos don't show enough to grade confidently.
