Historical Note

Introduced in 1873, the U.S. Trade Dollar was designed by William Barber primarily for commerce with Asia, particularly China. Its heavier silver content distinguished it from the standard U.S. silver dollar, and many examples circulated extensively in international trade.

The 1877-S issue was produced at the San Francisco Mint during the height of America's silver trade with the Far East.

Please Note: The coin pictured is the exact coin you will receive. This coin is raw and has not been independently graded or authenticated by a third-party grading service. The EF condition is a seller-assigned estimate. Please review all photographs before purchasing.
