1 oz Palladium Bar Value Chart

The most common form of investment palladium and the cheapest per ounce. A 1 oz bar from an accredited refiner is .9995 fine, serial-numbered and sold sealed in a certified assay card; with only two sovereign palladium coins in regular production, bars make up most of the retail market. PAMP Suisse, Credit Suisse and Valcambi are the names dealers buy back without question.

What is actually struck on each face, and who designed it.

Obverse

A minted rectangular bar with the refiner's hallmark, "PALLADIUM", the weight (1 oz), the fineness (999.5) and a serial number, sealed in an assay card. PAMP's Lady Fortuna bar is the most recognised; Credit Suisse's plain minted bar the most common older one.

Reverse

A repeating refiner logo pattern on modern minted bars; plain on older bars.

01

Why bars dominate palladium

Gold and silver have dozens of sovereign coins; palladium has the Canadian Maple Leaf, the American Eagle and a handful of discontinued issues. Refiners fill the gap: PAMP, Credit Suisse and Valcambi 1 oz bars have been the standard way to buy palladium since the 1980s and typically carry premiums several percent below the two coins.

02

Reading the assay card

A modern bar comes sealed in a tamper-evident card printed with the refiner, weight, fineness (999.5) and the serial number that is also stamped on the bar. Keep it sealed — an opened bar is worth less at resale — and check that the card's serial matches the bar. PAMP bars can additionally be verified with the refiner's Veriscan app.

03

Selling a palladium bar

Palladium's buy-back spread is the widest of the four precious metals because the retail market is thin. Bars from Good Delivery refiners in original cards get the best bid; unknown or private-label bars may need an assay before a dealer will buy. The melt value on this page assumes exactly one troy ounce at .9995 — what the card certifies.

Common questions

About the 1 oz Palladium Bar

How much is a 1 oz Palladium Bar worth right now?

At the current palladium spot price of $1,288.63/oz, the melt value of a 1 oz Palladium Bar (1 troy oz, .9995 fine palladium) is approximately $1,288.63. This updates continuously with the spot price above — sellers on the marketplace typically price above melt value, since the premium covers minting, distribution, and dealer margin.

Why does every listing cost more than melt value?

Melt value is the raw metal content only — what you'd get scrapping the coin. The premium above it pays for minting, distribution, and dealer margin, and on this marketplace specifically, it's set by each individual seller rather than one company's price list, so it's worth comparing a few listings rather than buying the first one you see.

What moves the price of palladium?

Like any commodity, palladium trades on global supply and demand — mine output and recycling on the supply side, industrial use, jewelry, and investment buying on the demand side. Short-term moves are usually driven by macro factors: interest rates, currency strength, and how much uncertainty investors are pricing into markets generally.

Is the 1 oz Palladium Bar a good way to buy palladium?

Government-minted bullion coins like this one are legal tender, widely recognized, and easy to resell — that recognition is usually worth the modest premium over generic rounds or bars of the same weight. For buyers who want to add to a physical position gradually, one-ounce coins are also just a convenient, liquid unit size.

Why does the price on this page differ slightly from a listing's actual price?

This page shows melt value — spot price times pure metal content, recalculated on every page load. Individual seller listings add their own premium on top, and that premium (not the melt value) is what actually varies between sellers, so it's normal for listing prices below to sit above the number at the top of this page.
