About the investment return calculator
The calculator runs on PeerMetals' own recorded spot-price history rather than a licensed third-party dataset, and our records currently reach back about a month -- the range grows every day we keep recording. The date picker shows exactly the window that's real, instead of implying history we don't hold.
It compares pure spot value: the ounces your dollars bought at the historical spot price, valued at today's spot price. It deliberately excludes the premium you'd pay over spot when buying and the discount when selling -- those vary by product and seller, and pretending a single number covers them would make the result less honest, not more useful.
No -- and metals are volatile enough that short windows can be sharply misleading in both directions. This tool answers 'what happened', which is useful context; it can't answer 'what will happen'. Nothing here is investment advice.
Gold, silver, platinum, and palladium -- the four metals our spot feed records. Copper is tracked on the live-prices pages but isn't included here.
The prices real buyers and sellers agree on are the ones that matter. Compare live listings from verified sellers -- every premium visible against the same spot price this tool uses.
