1776–1976 (struck 1975–1976)

Bicentennial Quarter Values

Every Washington quarter struck in 1975 and 1976 carries the dual date "1776-1976" and a colonial drummer boy reverse, minted to mark the 200th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence -- no quarters were dated 1975 at all. Most are common, worth only face or melt value, but San Francisco also struck a 40% silver collector version that carries real numismatic value.

Key dates

Every date below is a recognised key date or variety. Common dates from the same series are worth far less and are usually valued closer to their metal content.

Rarest first

How many of each were struck — the shortest bar is the scarcest date in the series.

Bars are scaled to keep the smallest mintages visible; the exact figure is printed on every row. Mintage is coins struck, not coins surviving — melting and circulation wear thin those numbers further.

Common questions

About Bicentennial Quarter values

Which Bicentennial Quarter is worth the most?

The 1976-S tops this series: a top-grade example is estimated around $14. Condition drives that figure — the same date in worn condition is worth a fraction of it, which is why each guide shows a range rather than a single number.

What is the rarest Bicentennial Quarter?

By mintage, the 1976-S is the scarcest key date tracked here, with 7,059,099 struck. Mintage is coins struck rather than coins surviving, though — melting and circulation wear thin those numbers further, so survival estimates run lower still.

How many Bicentennial Quarter key dates are there?

This guide covers 3 key dates and varieties from the Bicentennial Quarter series (1776–1976 (struck 1975–1976)). Common dates from the same series are worth far less and are usually valued closer to their metal content.

How do I know what condition my coin is in?

Grading takes practice, and the gap between adjacent grades is real money on a key date. Compare your coin against the photographs on each date's page, and for anything potentially valuable consider having it certified by PCGS or NGC — a graded coin settles both authenticity and condition in one step.
