Silver carries a much higher premium relative to spot than gold: minting, shipping and insuring a coin costs nearly the same whether it holds $60 of metal or $4,000 of it.
Bars, generic rounds and pre-1965 US junk silver bought by weight carry the tightest premiums. Fractional and collectable pieces carry the widest.
