How the per-gram silver price is calculated
Silver is quoted worldwide in US dollars per troy ounce, and a troy ounce is 31.1035 grams. Divide the spot price by 31.1035 and you have the price per gram of pure silver. There is no separate gram market; every buyer of scrap or sterling starts from the same ounce quote. A per-gram offer well below this figure is the buyer's margin, not a different market price.
