What moves the copper price
Copper is priced by industry, not by investors. Construction, power grids and electrical equipment take the majority of demand, with China alone consuming roughly half the world's supply; electric vehicles and renewable build-out are the fastest-growing slice. Mine supply is concentrated in Chile, Peru, the DRC and China, and new mines take a decade to open, so the price is very sensitive to disruptions and to Chinese growth data.
