Costco Silver Bars and Coins: Kirkland 1 oz Bars, Prices and Resale Value

Nash DickersonFounder & CEO
Costco Silver Bars and Coins: Kirkland 1 oz Bars, Prices and Resale Value

Costco sells silver in three forms: 10 oz bars, 1 oz Kirkland Signature bars that first reached shelves in late August 2026, and, when stock allows, tubes of sovereign coins such as Canadian Maple Leafs and American Silver Eagles. At a silver spot price of $64.57 per ounce on 16 September 2026, the metal in a 1 oz Kirkland bar is worth $64.57 and a 10 oz bar holds $645.70. Costco's price sits above those numbers, and how far above is the whole question. This guide covers what each product costs, the membership rules, and what the bars are worth when you sell them.

Key takeaways

  • Kirkland Signature 1 oz bars launched in August 2026 at roughly 10 percent over melt; 10 oz bars run 2 to 4 percent over.
  • The silver in a 1 oz bar is worth $64.57 today; compare any Costco price against that number, not the sticker.
  • Dealers buy Kirkland bars back near spot, so the 1 oz premium is only recovered by selling direct to another stacker.
  • Executive members earn 2 percent back, which brings a 10 oz bar close to spot.

What Costco silver actually is

Kirkland Signature 1 oz silver bar

A 1 oz silver bar sealed in a clear assay card, the format Costco uses for the Kirkland Signature bar

The Kirkland bar is a .9999 fine one-ounce silver bar sealed in a tamper-evident assay card, the same format Swiss refiners use for small bars. Costco introduced it in August 2026 and it sold out repeatedly in the first weeks. Early shelf prices were reported around $69 to $70 per bar when silver was near $63, which works out to a premium of roughly 10 percent over melt. That is higher than the premium on a generic 1 oz round from a bullion dealer, and the difference is the assay card, the Kirkland branding and Costco's margin.

10 oz silver bars

Costco has sold 10 oz .999 bars from major refiners in its online store since 2024. Observed premiums have been much tighter than the 1 oz bar, typically 2 to 4 percent over the metal value. At today's spot the metal in a 10 oz bar is worth $645.70, so a Costco price a few percent above that is competitive with any dealer.

Silver coins

A 10 oz silver bar beside a tube of 1 oz silver coins

Tubes of 25 Canadian Silver Maple Leafs and, less often, 20 American Silver Eagles appear on Costco.com in batches and sell out within hours. Each coin holds one ounce, so a tube of 25 Maples holds $1,614.25 in silver and a tube of 20 Eagles holds $1,291.40. Sovereign coins always carry a larger premium than bars, so expect the per-ounce price to be a few dollars above the 10 oz bar.

Costco silver prices versus spot

What each product is worth at today's spot of $64.57, and what it costs at the premiums Costco has been observed charging:

Silver moves every day, so the same Costco sticker can be a good or a poor buy depending on the week. This is where spot has been recently:

The number to compare is the premium over spot, not the sticker. Divide the Costco price by the ounces in the product and subtract today's spot of $64.57. A 10 oz bar at 3 percent over is a good buy anywhere. A 1 oz bar at 10 percent over is a fair buy for someone who wants a sealed, recognizable bar in small units, but it is not the cheapest way to own an ounce of silver. The generic 1 oz silver value chart shows what marketplace sellers are asking for the same ounce, and the silver melt calculator handles any size.

Executive members earn 2 percent back on Costco purchases, which effectively cuts the premium by that amount, and some Costco credit cards add a further reward. On a 10 oz bar those rebates can bring the net cost down to roughly spot.

Membership rules and purchase limits

Precious metals at Costco are members only, sold online rather than in the warehouse for most products, and non-refundable. Quantity limits apply per membership and change with demand; the gold bars have been restricted to as few as two units per 24 hours, and silver listings carry their own per-order caps. Because the listings appear and vanish quickly, stackers who want Costco silver check the website early in the morning and buy when a batch is up.

What Costco silver is worth when you sell

This is where the 1 oz Kirkland bar's premium matters. A bullion dealer's buyback price for a Kirkland bar is close to spot, typically a dollar or so under $64.57, so the 10 percent premium paid at Costco is not recovered when selling to a dealer. Coin shops treat the bar as generic silver and pay accordingly. Selling directly to another stacker is the only route that recovers any of that premium: recent Kirkland bar sales on PeerMetals have cleared a little above spot, because buyers value the sealed assay card. The where to sell silver bars page compares the options.

10 oz bars from recognized refiners resell at or slightly under spot to dealers and at a small premium to collectors, so the small premium paid at Costco is largely recovered.

Is Costco silver a good buy?

For 10 oz bars, yes, if you can get them. The premium is as low as any dealer and the refiners are recognized everywhere. For the Kirkland 1 oz bar, it depends on why you are buying. As a gift, a starter piece or a sealed bar to hold for years, it is fine. As a way to accumulate ounces at the lowest cost, a tube of generic rounds, a 10 oz bar or 90 percent junk silver all cost less per ounce. Compare the marketplace asks below against today's melt value of $64.57 before deciding.

Frequently asked questions

Does Costco sell silver bars in the warehouse?

Some warehouses have stocked the Kirkland 1 oz bar on the floor since its August 2026 launch. 10 oz bars and coin tubes are sold online at Costco.com for members and ship insured.

How much is a Kirkland silver bar worth?

Its silver content is worth $64.57 at today's spot price. Dealers buy it at roughly that figure; private buyers pay a small premium for the sealed assay card.

Are Costco silver bars .999 or .9999?

The Kirkland Signature 1 oz bar is stamped .9999 fine. The 10 oz bars are .999 fine, which is the standard for investment silver. The difference has no effect on value.

Can I return silver to Costco?

No. Precious metals are excluded from Costco's return policy, which is why the price you pay against spot matters more than it does for any other Costco purchase.
